Sunday Pot Roast and Gravy
1 pot roast2 cups water
1/4 cup dried onions
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
3 teaspoons beef bouillon granules or 3 cubes
Brown beef in a frying pan over high heat on every side. Place roast in a crockpot and set to high for 6 hours. (You can cook on various times or temperatures. It just depends on what time you want your roast done and how your crockpot cooks.)
Combine onions, salt, onion powder, and bouillon cubes or granules. Add it to the crockpot. Pour the 2 cups of water over the pot roast and let it cook.
For Gravy:
When roast is done remove the roast from the crockpot. Pour the drippings from the roast into a saucepan. Skim the fat off the top until there isn't much left (maybe 2 tablespoons or so).
In a small bowl, combine about 1/2 cup cold water and 2 Tablespoons of cornstarch. Add the mixture to the drippings. Cook over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Mixture will thicken slightly, but will continue to thicken as it cools.
Serve pot roast and gravy immediately with either mashed or baked potatoes.
