Alfredo Sauce

Alfredo Sauce

This is a wonderful Alfredo sauce.  It is delicious with all kinds of noodles, so pick your favorite.

2 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons garlic powder
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 teaspoons salt
4 cups milk
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 cups grated parmesan cheese

In a large saucepan, melt butter and add the garlic powder.

Dissolve the cornstarch with the milk.  Add the milk to the saucepan.  Add the salt and cream cheese as well.  Stir it well.  The cream cheese will need to be stirred extremely well in order to not be lumpy.  (You could blend it with the milk in a blender before adding it to the saucepan, if desired.)

Cook the mixture in the saucepan until it starts to thicken.  This can take 7-10 minutes.  Once the sauce has started to thicken, add the parmesan.  Stir it well.  Turn off the heat and let it sit for a little before using.

Serve over your favorite pasta.  You can add chicken, broccoli, or whatever else you desire to your pasta and Alfredo sauce.

My kids also love the leftovers in their lunches.

Lasagna Seasoning Mix

Lasagna Seasoning Mix

I was saddened a while back when I discovered that I could no longer find the spicy spaghetti seasoning that I used in my lasagna recipe.  I haven't been able to find it for a while.  So, I set to work making my own seasoning mix.  This is what I came up with and it is definitely fabulous!!

1/4 cup minced onion
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons italian seasoning
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper (add more or less if you want it more or less spicy)

Add all of these spices to your lasagna sauce and simmer.  Continue making the lasagna just as it is in the lasagna just as it was written originally.
